The Paeria de Lleida has initiated the processing of four proposals from social developers to build up to 580 affordable homes on seven municipal plots. The announcement was made this Friday by the mayor, Fèlix Larrosa, during a visit to the works of the first new construction cooperative housing project on municipal land.

The launch of these 580 homes coincides with a first building that will only offer 25 protected apartments, but which acts as a test of the model that the city council wants to extend. The cooperative development starts on Enric Roca Peralta street, between passeig Onze de Setembre and the road to Vallcalent.

Larrosa activates four proposals to build up to 580 homes on seven plots

The city council has opened the processing of four initiatives presented by social developers to develop affordable housing on municipal plots. The operation affects seven plots and raises the planned offer to 580 apartments.

Larrosa linked this step with the need to increase the stock of limited-price housing in Lleida. The announcement came during the institutional visit to works that the city council considers the first new construction cooperative project on municipal land.

The Enric Roca Peralta cooperative plans for residents to move in by mid-2027

This first project is promoted by the Paeria and Sostre Cívic in an area located between passeig Onze de Setembre and the road to Vallcalent. The chosen model is that of cession of use, through which 25 official protected homes will be offered at a reduced price.

The development has a total budget of four million euros to build 25 protected homes. Of this amount, 1.2 million comes from a grant from the Generalitat de Catalunya and the rest corresponds to the contribution of the members.

The period to incorporate new members into the cooperative is now open. The process will prioritize people registered in Lleida who meet the requirements for access to official protected housing and prove economic capacity to assume the monthly fees.

The municipal forecast sets the residents' move-in date for mid-2027, while the deadline for new members to join will remain open until June 22.
