The AFA of El Terrall school in Castellserà has been promoting the improvement of the center's playground for three years with a project that already totals an investment of around 9,000 euros. The action is led by the Playground Committee and has allowed to renovate and expand different play areas both in the school and in the nursery.
A sustained performance for three years
The project has been financed with the contribution of several parties. The AFA has assumed 6,000 euros, while the educational center has allocated 2,000 euros and the Castellserà City Council has contributed 1,000 euros. The council, furthermore, has provided machinery and tools to execute part of the works.
During this time, various improvements have been carried out in the patio. Among them are the installation of a climbing wall, the construction of a little kitchen, the creation of games and circuits painted on the ground, the replacement of the protection of the play area, and the purchase of tables and benches.
Last participatory session in April
Last April 19, the last participatory day linked to this process was held. In that session, the kitchen set was moved to the back of the patio and benches and pallet tables were also repaired and painted.
On that same day, a vegetable garden area was enabled with the intention of promoting symbolic play. In the front part of the patio, holes were made to install a volleyball net and the table tennis table was changed of location.
New spaces for play and sport
Another of the actions has been the placement of new goals with incorporated basketball hoops, with the aim of creating a multisport space within the school premises.
The improvements have also reached the playground of the nursery school. There, an awning has been installed to avoid direct sun, a playhouse, and several experimentation tables. In addition, the sand in the sandpits has been renewed, within a global intervention designed to diversify the uses of the playground and adapt the spaces to different ages.
With these actions, the educational community of El Terrall continues expanding a transformation project that has been developed progressively and with the participation of the families, the center, and the City Council of Castellserà.
