The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested a 44-year-old man yesterday in Juneda for the alleged stabbing with a bladed weapon of his roommate during a fight in a dwelling on Font street. The alert placed the incident around 12:20 PM and the victim was evacuated to the Arnau de Vilanova hospital.
The case once again places a stabbing inside an apartment in the Lleida region a few days after similar episodes. While in Juneda the mayor maintains that the two involved had not caused problems in the municipality until now, the police seized 396 bladed weapons in the city of Lleida last year as part of the DAGA Plan and processed 3,206 related complaints.
The injured man arrived at Arnau after the fight on Font street
The aggression occurred in the home shared by the two men, both more or less permanent residents of Juneda. The arrest of the alleged perpetrator was carried out on the same day as the events.
Initial police reports indicated that the injured man, admitted to Arnau de Vilanova, was not in danger of death. The SEM did not subsequently provide data on his health status.
Antoni Villas, mayor of Juneda, identified those involved as two men of Senegalese origin known in the municipality and stressed that they had not caused previous incidents.
"They are good people, they had never caused problems in Juneda" - Antoni Villas, mayor of Juneda
Lleida accumulated 396 confiscated bladed weapons in one year
Yesterday's arrest adds to other recent stabbings that also occurred inside dwellings in the Lleida area. On April 25, another man ended up arrested for an assault in an apartment with an injured person transferred to Arnau for injuries to the left forearm and the left side of the abdomen.
At the end of March, another fight had already occurred in an occupied apartment in Cappont that ended with one of those involved being stabbed. In parallel, the joint operation of the DAGA Plan in Lleida maintained police focus on the circulation of knives and other bladed weapons.
Within that operation, the Mossos d'Esquadra and the Guardia Urbana of Lleida seized 396 bladed weapons and registered 3,206 complaints during the past year. The figure places the Juneda stabbing in a recent sequence of bladed weapon assaults in apartments in the demarcation.
The last known precedent before the Juneda case occurred on April 25, when the victim presented wounds on the left forearm and the left side of the abdomen after another assault in an apartment.
