The multinational Nipro will move its Mollerussa plant to the city of Lleida to expand production and turn the new facilities into one of its main European centers for dialysis fluid. The company has already purchased the land where it will build the factory, in the Torre Solé industrial estate, and anticipates an investment of around 25 million euros.
The move involves relocating an already established activity from Mollerussa to gain capacity in Lleida, with the expectation that the new plant will become operational in 2028. Nipro plans the change to respond to the increased demand for acid concentrates for hemodialysis and bicarbonate cartridges.
Nipro will invest 25 million in a new plant in Torre Solé
The new facilities will be located in the Torre Solé industrial estate, an area where the company has already secured land with the purchase of the plots. The future factory will allow for an expansion of production capacity compared to the current Mollerussa plant.
The company frames the operation within its industrial strategy in Europe. Specifically, it anticipates that Lleida will gain importance as one of its main production centers for dialysis fluid.
The new facility will concentrate the manufacturing of acid concentrates for hemodialysis and bicarbonate cartridges, two products linked to dialysis treatment for which the company foresees higher demand.
The company expects to open the facilities in 2028 after a year of negotiations
Nipro maintains that the chosen location offers adequate logistical connectivity for its activity. This factor has influenced the decision to move the plant from Mollerussa to the capital of Segrià.
For approximately one year, the operation has been finalized with the participation of the investment attraction office of the Lleida city council. This work has accompanied the process up to the acquisition of the land in Torre Solé.
The multinational's forecast is for the Lleida plant to become operational in 2028, following an investment estimated at around 25 million euros.
