The head of the opposition in the Paeria de Lleida and leader of the PP, Xavi Palau, has denounced the appearance of syringes, drops of blood and drug paraphernalia on Canyeret street, in the Historic Center. The complaint places these remains in the middle of the public street, at a point close to a playground, a school, the access to the Seu Vella and the courts.
Palau assured that the syringes were located yesterday morning and maintained that it is a scene that, in his opinion, is repeated too frequently in the city. He also warned of the insecurity and risk that this situation entails for residents and for people who pass through the area.

Neighborhood complaints on Canyeret street
The popular leader also pointed out that the residents of the area have been alerting for months about constant movements in an abandoned patio on the same street. According to what he stated, in that space there is a continuous influx of people entering and leaving by jumping the wall, a circumstance that points to a possible drug consumption point and that, for now, remains in the realm of political and neighborhood complaint.
Canyeret street is located in one of the most sensitive areas of Lleida's old town, next to highly frequented facilities and accesses. Palau framed this situation within a broader problem of degradation and insalubrity in the surroundings.

Claim to the municipal government
Given this scenario, Palau demanded from the municipal government that the recovery of the Historic Center not be limited to urban and housing actions. In his opinion, that strategy must be accompanied by a firm application of the rules and an intervention on degraded spaces.
Specifically, he asked to review the plots on Canyeret street to avoid the proliferation of settlements and the consolidation of conflictive points. He also warned that insalubrity and permissiveness can end up leading to a public health problem, especially in an area with a daily presence of families, schoolchildren, and users of judicial services.
The complaint once again puts the focus on the state of some spaces in the Historic Center of Lleida and on the neighborhood claims to reinforce control in abandoned enclaves of the neighborhood.
