The Seròs hostel has started the accommodation service for the agricultural campaign with an extension until the end of September. The facility maintains 40 places distributed in two modules for workers in the sector.
The private ownership of the center allows the Segrià council to manage this initiative, which extends its usual activity from two to five months. This decision responds to the balance recorded in 2025, when the hostel registered 189 overnight stays from 36 different users.
Daily transport organizes the arrival of seasonal workers
The stay in the facility is free and limits the stay to a maximum of ten days per user. This criterion seeks to facilitate rapid labor insertion within a campaign that aims to reach 50,000 agricultural contracts in the district.
The single office for seasonal worker attention of La Paeria de Lleida manages the daily referral of users until noon. The selected workers are transported by taxi to Seròs with an expected arrival around five in the afternoon.
Three social facilitators accompany users inside the shelter while another three reinforce attention in municipalities of Baix Segre. The Segrià council assumes the management of transport and accommodation thanks to funding from the Generalitat de Catalunya and contributions from the Diputación.
Lleida expands its reception network for June
The initiative from Seròs complements the facility in Caparrella in Lleida. The Temporary Worker Reception Center located in the Creu del Batlle industrial park will begin operating in June to serve 32 workers with fruit picking contracts.
This new space will be added to the usual accommodation in a pavilion of Fira de Lleida that offers 100 places. The apartments managed by the Municipal Urban Agenda Company, with a capacity for 99 people, will also be incorporated.
The Caparrella center represents the first of the three planned by La Paeria whose remaining locations are pending definition. Various municipalities in Segrià, Noguera, Pla d'Urgell, Urgell, and Les Garrigues already have municipal or private accommodations for seasonal workers.
