The Lleida Court will try on April 8 an alleged sexual assault on a minor in a case in which the girl's father is also accused for not having reported the facts. The investigation of the case has been handled by the courts of Lleida and in the oral hearing it is expected that testimonial and expert evidence will be presented.

In the procedure, the minor's grandfather appears as the main accused, to whom the Prosecutor's Office attributes an alleged crime of sexual assault of a minor under 16 years old for sexual touching. The events, always according to the indictment, date back to 2023 and would have occurred at night at the grandfather's home, in the Ponent regions.

Requests for sentence for the grandfather

The Public Prosecutor's Office requests for the grandfather five years in prison and another five years of supervised release. It also requests his disqualification from working in activities with minors for five years.

To this adds the prohibition of approaching less than 200 meters from the victim or communicating with her for six years, a measure that the prosecution proposes to protect the minor.

The father, accused of not reporting

The girl's father is also being prosecuted in the same case for an alleged crime of omission of the duty to promote the prosecution of crimes. The Prosecutor's Office maintains that the minor explained the alleged abuse to him and that, despite this, he did not file any complaint nor did he prevent contact between the girl and her grandfather.

For these events, the Public Prosecutor's Office requests for the father a fine of 18 months with a daily fee of five euros, which raises the request to 8,100 euros. In addition, it demands his disqualification from exercising parental authority for three years.

Oral hearing scheduled in Lleida

The case will go to trial in the Lleida Court with the presentation of testimonial and expert evidence, which should serve to clarify facts that the Prosecutor's Office places in the minor's family environment. It will be then when the court hears the parties and assesses the criminal responsibilities that may arise from this procedure.
