The Japanese multinational Nipro will move its Mollerussa plant to the Torre Solé industrial estate to expand production and turn the new facilities into one of its main European centers for dialysis fluid. The planned investment amounts to 25 million euros and the start of operations is set for 2028.
The move comes because the current factory has become too small to grow. Nipro maintains that the Mollerussa facilities have met its needs so far, but that their size and infrastructure already limit the future expansion of an activity that the company wants to strengthen in Lleida.
The new plant will occupy almost the entire Torre Solé industrial estate
The project is in the planning and permit processing phase, and its implementation will leave the Torre Solé industrial estate almost completely occupied. The operation involves relocating current activity with an expansion of production capacity in the Lleida area.
Nipro sources justified the choice of location due to logistical connectivity, talent availability, and the enclave's capacity to sustain its long-term operational and growth plans in the region.
The company has not specified how many jobs the new factory will have. It has indicated that it expects to generate new employment opportunities over time, as operations increase.
Nipro will maintain the production of hemodialysis materials in Lleida
Production will continue to focus on acid concentrates for hemodialysis and bicarbonate cartridges, two essential materials in the dialysis treatment of patients with severe kidney failure. Furthermore, the new factory aims to become one of the company's main European centers for this type of product.
The company emphasizes that the priority is to preserve and strengthen its activity in the area. Within this framework, the new plant is envisioned as a facility capable of sustaining the company's long-term development.
The Invest in Lleida and Talent Office, promoted by the Lleida city council to attract investments, has also been involved in the operation. This municipal instrument has managed the arrival of the project to the Torre Solé industrial estate.
Nipro Corporation, founded in Osaka in 1954, has more than 38,000 employees, operates in more than sixty countries, and expects the new Mollerussa facilities to be operational in 2028.
