The Japanese multinational Nipro will move its Mollerussa plant to Lleida and will build new facilities in the Torre Solé industrial estate with an investment of around 25 million euros. The company expects the new center to become operational in 2028, once planning and permit processing are completed.

The move maintains activity in the Pla d'Urgell area, but confirms that the current factory in the capital of Pla can no longer absorb the growth the company is seeking. Nipro plans the operation as a relocation and expansion of its current operations to turn the new plant into one of its main production centers in Europe for dialysis fluid.

The new plant in Torre Solé will concentrate the planned expansion until 2028

The future factory will be located in Torre Solé, a privately developed industrial estate in Lleida which will be almost completed with this establishment. The company states that the location offers logistical connectivity, talent availability, and the capacity to support its long-term operational and growth plans in the region.

In the new plant, Nipro will maintain production focused on acid concentrates for hemodialysis and bicarbonate cartridges. Both products are essential for the treatment of patients with severe kidney failure.

The company justifies the move by the surface and infrastructure limitations of the current Mollerussa factory, which hinder further expansions. The project aims to improve operational efficiency, technology, and production capacity.

The city council channeled the investment through the Invest in Lleida and Talent office

The operation has been managed by the Invest in Lleida and Talent Office, created by the Lleida city council to attract investments. The company frames the decision within its commitment to preserve and strengthen its activity in the area.

Nipro also points out that the expansion will generate new employment opportunities over time, although it has not yet specified how many jobs it will entail. Its forecast is that the growth of operations will translate into more employment as the center's activity progresses.

Founded in 1954 and headquartered in Osaka, Nipro Corporation has more than 38,000 employees and a presence in over sixty countries.
