More than 13,000 self-employed workers from the province of Lleida will have to review with special attention their income tax return due to the regularization of Social Security contributions corresponding to last year. The adjustment affects part of the 36,365 self-employed workers in the territory and arrives in the middle of the tax campaign, with refunds in some cases and additional payments in others.

The incidence affects very different profiles. More than 4,300 regularizations imply money refunds by the Social Security, while around 8,700 self-employed individuals will have to pay additional amounts after the cross-referencing of income data and contribution bases.

Refunds and pending collections in the middle of the fiscal campaign

Among the detected cases are farmers who had contributed 340 euros monthly instead of 310 and who now receive refunds of between 540 and 700 euros. Situations of the opposite kind are also occurring. Some self-employed individuals have encountered charges of 1,000 euros or more due to errors by the Administration when calculating the increase in their contribution after raising their invoicing.

Pere Roqué, president of the Associació Multisectorial d"Autònoms de les Terres de Lleida, has warned of the diversity of scenarios that are appearing in this regularization.

"ATA already denounced the existing lack of control in 2024 and the self-employed now find themselves with all kinds of situations" - Pere Roqué, president of Amall

The Lleida countryside expects changes in the modules

The situation also coincides with the waiting of a part of Lleida's agricultural sector, which has not yet filed its income tax return. Farmers and ranchers are awaiting the publication of the Treasury order that must modify the modules for the meteorological losses registered in the campaign.

The expectation is especially high among fruit and cereal producers, awaiting that tax correction to collect the impact of the hail episodes in the territory.

"This year fruit and cereal producers are waiting for the changes taking into account the serious consequences of the hail in practically all municipalities" - Pere Roqué, president of Asaja Catalunya

With this scenario, the Income Tax campaign advances in Lleida marked by the uncertainty of thousands of self-employed workers, among those who hope to recover part of what was contributed and those who will have to assume new payments while the agricultural sector remains pending a tax modification which it considers key.
