Lleida has begun the celebration of its Fiesta Mayor with a program that combines cultural tradition and sports competitions in different parts of the city. The capital of Segrià is unfolding activities in municipal facilities and public spaces to accommodate international petanque and paddle tennis tournaments alongside established events such as the Folkloric Festival.
Sports take center stage
The competitive activity starts with force in various venues. The city hosts the Torneig Internacional Ciutat de Lleida of petanque, a competition that attracts participants of diverse nationalities. In parallel, the first Fiesta Mayor Padel Tournament is launched, expanding the sports offering for the local public.
Instrumental music gains prominence in the Enric Granados Municipal Auditorium. This space hosts the XXV edition of the Sant Anastasi Instrumental Competition, an event that maintains its quarter-century trajectory promoting young talent.
The new urban trends have their place in the Mercado del Plano. The venue is transformed to host the Breaking Rock2Flavour championship, where dancers compete in front of the attending public.
Folk tradition fills Sant Joan square
The Sant Joan square is experiencing one of its most outstanding moments with the 40th edition of the Lleida Folk Festival. Traditional dance groups take the stage to showcase dances and customs rooted in Catalan popular culture.
The fire reclaims the streets of the Historic Center during the night. Neighbors witness the night Correfoc, while the little ones participate in the children's Correfoc designed specifically for them. Both performances tour the old town following the usual itinerary of these celebrations.
The Elysian Fields concentrate the end of the festive day. The municipal park organizes the closing festival that puts the final touch to the central events.
