La Paeria de Lleida has activated in Mercolleida a specific device to centralize the procedures linked to the extraordinary process of regularization of migrants, with an estimated attendance of about 240 people per day. The service has started this Monday with long queues since the previous night on the first morning of operation.
Service will be provided from Monday to Friday, between 9:00 and 14:00 hours, in an enabled space to channel in a single point a good part of the administrative demand related to this process. The device will operate for several weeks.
Reinforcement of personnel and control of access
The operation has 16 reinforcement professionals between administrative staff and social workers, in addition to the presence of the Guàrdia Urbana and civic agents. The municipal intention is to order the influx of people and prevent the pressure from falling on other facilities and services of the city.

La Paeria has located this resource in the Mercolleida facilities with the idea of concentrating attention in a spacious and strategic area. At the opening, however, hundreds of people were waiting their turn after having spent the night queuing to be able to start or advance their procedures.
Procedure focused on vulnerability reports
The service is mainly intended for the collection of requests for vulnerability reports, one of the documents linked to this process. These reports are only issued for people residing in Lleida. Those who are registered in other municipalities must go to their respective regional councils.
The City Council is studying the possibility of expanding the device later on to incorporate other procedures, among them the registration, if the evolution of the demand advises it.
The resolution does not depend on the City Council
La Paeria reminds that municipal processing is part of the administrative circuit, but that the final resolution of residence permits corresponds to other bodies, among them Extranjería or Correos. The new service point seeks to absorb the initial demand and order a process that at its start has already mobilized hundreds of people in Lleida.
