Dozens of people have spent the night queuing in Lleida to obtain the certificate of vulnerability required in the extraordinary process of regularization of migrants promoted by the Government of Spain. The largest concentration has been registered at the OMAC de la Rambla de Ferran, one of the three points enabled in the city to process this documentation.
The procedure can also be done at the Post Office branches on Segovia street and at the Social Security headquarters in Cappont. The deadline to submit applications ends on June 30, a limit that has intensified pressure on customer service and has led many applicants to go in the early morning to try to get a turn.
More demand than capacity of attention
The three enabled points have the capacity to serve about 90 people per day. Each process requires about twenty minutes, which reduces the response margin given the high influx of people recorded in the last hours.
At the municipal office of Rambla de Ferran, 75 service numbers were distributed among more than 200 people who were waiting. The difference between demand and available turns has caused long waits outside the building since the previous night.
Municipal reinforcement due to the queues
La Paeria foresees opening this Wednesday a specific office for the exclusive processing of vulnerability certificates. With this measure, it seeks to decongest the current points and give an outlet to a volume of requests that, with only a few days left until the deadline expires, continues to grow.
In parallel, the Guàrdia Urbana and the Mossos d'Esquadra maintain a special operation to guarantee order in the exterior of the municipal buildings and in the accesses to the attention spaces. The police presence focuses on facilitating the wait and avoiding incidents in areas where hundreds of people have concentrated.
The situation maintains the pressure on Lleida's municipal services, with queues that start at night and a limited service capacity at a key moment for those who try to complete the required documentation on time.
