Lleida celebrates until April 29 the fourth edition of the Setmana de la FP Pública (Public Vocational Training Week), an event that brings together the seven public Vocational Training centers in the city at a time of growth in the offer and student body. This academic year, enrollment has reached 3,929 students, which represents an increase of 7% compared to the previous year.
The initiative counts on the participation of the Escola del Treball, the Escola d"Hoteleria i Turisme, the INS Caparrella, the INS Joan Oró, the INS Guindàvols, the INS Ronda and the INS Torre Vicens. The call puts the focus on the public offer of FP in the capital of Segrià and in its connection with the business fabric.
More students and a strong presence in the company
One of the indicators that mark this edition is the weight of training in work environments. In Lleida, 29% of the students carry out remunerated internships of 1,000 hours, a figure well above the Catalan average, situated at 6.5%, and the state one, which remains at 4.9%.
The collaboration network also remains on the rise. A total of 1,529 companies work with the Vocational Training centers of the city, a fact that consolidates the implementation of these studies in different productive sectors.
New studies for the course 2025 and 2026
The planned programming for the next academic year incorporates new qualifications and strengthens some already existing lines. The INS Ronda will impart in the academic year 2025 and 2026 the double higher degree in Social Integration and Promotion of Gender Equality, a modality that will only be available in Lleida and in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat.
The Escola del Treball will launch a pilot plan that will combine training cycles with professional certificates in Administrative Management, Commercial Activities and Electrical Installations. In parallel, the Escola d"Hoteleria i Turisme will premiere the cycle of Food Product Elaboration and will double its offer in Cooking and Restaurant Services.
There will also be novelties in other institutes of the city. The INS Caparrella will offer a PFI of Plumbing Assistant of 1,000 hours aimed at young people between 16 and 21 years old who do not have the ESO. The INS Joan Oró will incorporate a mid-level degree itinerary in Rescue and Lifesaving. The INS Torre Vicens will implement the basic degree of Building Renovation and Maintenance, focused on bricklaying, painting and installations.
In the case of INS Guindàvols, the refrigeration and air conditioning installations cycle maintains an occupancy rate close to 100%, a sign of the demand that this specialty continues to register.
Recognition in competitions and international opening
The FP students of Lleida have also obtained outstanding results in vocational training competitions. In the SpainSkills, they achieved a gold medal in Bakery, a silver one in Fashion Technology, and a bronze one in Cooking.
In the CatSkills, the students obtained gold medals in plumbing, refrigeration and electric vehicle, three specialties linked to technical profiles with strong presence in the local offer.
During the current academic year, furthermore, 109 students and 39 teachers have participated in international mobility programs. The Public VET Week thus arrives with a consolidated network of centers, companies, and new qualifications that seeks to reinforce the role of Lleida as one of the poles of Vocational Training in Catalonia.
