The Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating the assault on an 88-year-old man in his home in Lleida and the aggression suffered by a 76-year-old neighbor in a farmhouse in Arbeca, two cases that occurred this week in the Ponent regions and with elderly victims.
Assault in a dwelling of Lleida
The latest case occurred on Friday afternoon on a street near the Ronda chalets, in Lleida. An individual knocked on the door of the 88-year-old man's home asking for charity and, once he opened it, pushed him to the ground and stole 150 euros and a mobile phone. The attack occurred in broad daylight.
The victim had to be evacuated to the Arnau de Vilanova hospital in Lleida, where she spent the night upon finding herself disoriented. The scientific unit of the Mossos d'Esquadra moved to the scene to collect evidence and advance the investigation.
Another case under investigation in Arbeca
The Mossos also keep open the investigation into the assault suffered on Wednesday morning by a 76-year-old resident of Arbeca. According to initial data, two hooded individuals assaulted and tied him up in a farmhouse located on Girona street, on the outskirts of the municipality.
After subduing him, the assailants stole his keys and mobile phone and headed to his home in Lluís Companys square. The victim was later located by neighbors, while calling for help, and was transferred to the CAP of Les Borges Blanques.
Recent precedent in Ponent
These events come after a recent operation in the same area. At the beginning of the year, an off-duty mosso arrested a couple aged 39 and 37 specializing in the well-known mimosa theft method.
The investigations remain open in both cases to identify the authors and clarify if there exists any relationship between the assaults investigated in Lleida and Arbeca.
