Councilwoman Imma Roca has denounced the presence of hanging telephone and electrical cables in several streets of Alguaire, a situation that, she maintains, is generating neighborhood discontent, service interruptions, and security problems in different parts of the municipality.

Roca has pointed out that part of the telephone wiring "has been left out of service and is hanging" and has warned that incidents are repeated when a ruined house is demolished or when the lines hang from degraded buildings. In those cases, he states, they cannot get technicians to come and repair the network quickly.

Complaints in the old area and at the entrances

The councilwoman places the most conflictive points in the old area of Alguaire. She has mentioned Església square and Bell lloc, Pompeu Fabra, Lluís Companys, Antoni Gaudí streets and the Camí de la Fàbrica, in addition to the accesses to nuclei. She has also remarked that the most complex cases are those of the wiring that reaches the farms.

Among the sections it considers most problematic, it has cited the line that runs along the N 230 on the right bank, at the height of the La Rosa restaurant area, where, in its words, "everything hangs".

A cable fell on Jaume Nadal avenue

Roca has explained that a few days ago a cable fell on Jaume Nadal avenue and that, always according to her account, no one came to remove or secure it. The councilwoman maintains that it was the city council itself and a private individual who picked it up and tied it to the lampposts to avoid further problems.

The municipal official maintains that this type of episode ends up causing complaints among residents and outages in telephone and internet services.

The incident on the 12th left homes, farms, and businesses without service

One of the most relevant episodes occurred on the 12th, when a truck took down the cable on Camí de la Fàbrica. The breakdown left several houses in Mata de Pinyana without telephone or internet, as well as farms and some companies in the area.

The incident caused protests and forced the city council to close the road to La Mata. That closure also interrupted garbage collection for several days. Roca assures that the notice was given a few hours after the incident occurred and that the repair was not resolved until the 25th, according to the information provided by Telefónica.

The council demands a more agile response

The councilwoman maintains that the municipality has long had problems with the state of the wiring and with the delay in repairs. In this context, she explains that Telefónica recommends that the town hall, when it detects a case of deficient wiring, communicate it through the Petter platform, specifically enabled to resolve incidents.

Meanwhile, the unrest remains open in different points of Alguaire, especially on Jaume Nadal avenue, Església square, Bell lloc, Pompeu Fabra, Lluís Companys, Antoni Gaudí streets, Camí de la Fàbrica and the accesses to nuclei, where the city council demands an action that avoids new cable falls and more service interruptions.
