Four public secondary schools in Tàrrega, Bellpuig and Agramunt will have an agent of the Mossos d'Esquadra from next week to support the educational community. The measure will be deployed within the framework of a pilot plan promoted by the Department of Education and will have an initial duration of one and a half years.
The centers that will participate in this first phase in the region of l'Urgell are the Instituto Ribera del Sió de Agramunt, the Lo Pla d'Urgell de Bellpuig, the Manuel de Pedrolo de Tàrrega and the Alfons Costafreda, also in Tàrrega. The assigned agent will work in plain clothes and will focus their intervention on issues such as school absenteeism, incident management, and mediation tasks.
Support in the educational environment
The expectation is that this service will come into operation next week. Education emphasizes that the incorporation of these agents is not due to a specific security problem in the centers, but to a strategy to reinforce work with the educational community.

The figure of the support mosso will act as an element of accompaniment and liaison in situations linked to the daily life of the institutes. Its task will cover absenteeism, incidents, and mediation, always within this pilot program.
Extension of the plan in other municipalities
The initiative will not be limited to l'Urgell. It will also be applied in the Val d'Aran, where the IES Val d'Aran de Vielha and L'Escola Ostaleria de Les will participate. The deployment also includes centers in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Vic, Sabadell and two institutes in El Prat de Llobregat.
From the department it is maintained that this formula is already used in other parts of the State and it is pointed out that nine autonomous communities already apply this measure. With this trial, Education will evaluate during the next 18 months the fit of this police support in the participating public centers.
In the case of Tàrrega, Bellpuig and Agramunt, the start of the service will place the Mossos within the ordinary educational dynamic, with discreet presence and support functions, in a test that will now extend to several points of Catalunya.
