The residents of Preixens, in La Noguera, have been five days without telephone or internet due to a breakdown registered on Friday on Sant Joan street, in the urban section of the Castellserà road. A truck pulled up the telecommunications cabling, which passed at a low height over the road, and the line detached from the facades of several houses.

The incident caused damage to two homes and a municipal facility. The wiring was left hanging in the middle of the public road and it was necessary to close the street to prevent further damage and reduce the risk to residents and traffic in the area.

No service since Friday morning

The city council communicated the incident to Movistar on the same Friday at ten in the morning. The company stated that the breakdown would be resolved that same day, but neither Friday nor Saturday was the service restored. During the weekend, the council intensified its efforts and even escalated the situation to the political sphere before the Generalitat.

The mayor, Joan Eroles, maintains that since the cutting of the cables the situation has worsened. In the municipality, conventional television, telephones, and several basic online services do not work, while the line remains sectioned and visible in the street.

"Since the cables were cut, we are worse off, neither conventional television, nor telephones, nor basic online services work" - Joan Eroles, mayor of Preixens

Incidence worsened between Monday and Tuesday

Eroles adds that the problem remains unresolved and that on Monday night to Tuesday the situation worsened, when someone cut the cable to leave the street open. To this day, those affected report that the lack of response continues and that no one tells them who should assume the repair of the line.

The neighbors emphasize that the affected section of the road is of municipal ownership and demand an urgent solution, both for the recovery of communications and for the risk that maintaining damaged wiring in the middle of the road poses.

Neighbor complaints about delays and material damage

Montserrat Santacreu, Dolors Gili, Domingo Puig and Jaume Huguet have demanded immediate action to restore services and prevent a similar incident from happening again. Among those affected, discontent is growing over the accumulated delay since Friday.

"Nobody has come here, we have reported the facts and we must not be important enough for them to fix our wiring" - one of the affected residents

Some residents also hope that the damage to the facades of the affected houses will be repaired. They assure that the pull of the wiring broke pipes and damaged decorative elements. The street remains marked by a breakdown that keeps neighbors and basic services isolated awaiting an intervention that, five days later, has still not arrived.
