Endesa located 935 electrical frauds in Lleida during the past year. This figure consolidates an increase of nearly 64% compared to the previous year and places the capital of Segrià as one of the focal points of greatest irregular activity in the Catalan distribution network.
The total volume defrauded in all of Catalonia reached 486,567,615 kWh in 2025. The cases detected exclusively in Lleida correspond to 17,095,121 kWh. This amount represents 5% of the total volume registered in the autonomous community.
The upward trend soars after two years of stability
Historical data reveal an irregular evolution in the files opened by the company. The number fluctuated between 526 in 2022, dropped to 282 in 2023, and rebounded to 571 in 2024 before reaching the current level.
Electrical fraud in Catalonia increased by 7% compared to the previous year.
This positive dynamic for inspectors contrasts with the global situation, where the increase was more moderate. The acceleration in Lleida practically doubles the average growth observed in the rest of Catalan territory.
Drastic drop in hooks for illegal crops
Manipulations intended for the cultivation of marijuana plants experienced a significant decrease. Only 23 cases of this type were registered in Lleida last year. This figure represents a drop of almost half compared to previous periods.
"The 23 cases of marijuana hook-ups in Lleida represent 2.4% of the total in Catalonia" - Data from Endesa
In the set of Catalonia there were 24,347 electricity fraud files in 2025. Of those files, 553 were specific connections for drug plantations. The Lleida proportion within this specific crime remains minority.
The daily average of detected manipulations throughout the community amounts to 67. Security agents and the distributor's technicians maintain constant surveillance over suspicious electrical panels.
The reduction of illegal supply points for drug cultivation has not curbed the global increase in fraud. Other forms of energy theft continue to expand in the province and more than compensate for the decrease recorded in the cannabis sector.
