The notaries in the demarcation of Lleida authorized 1,267 lifetime donations in 2025, 8% more than the previous year, within a general increase in activity linked to wealth, housing, and business creation. Wills, mortgage loans, marriages before a notary, divorces, and the incorporation of companies also grew.
The contrast appears in two procedures that evolve in opposite directions. While lifetime donations marked an upward trend since the pandemic and wills reached their highest level since 2021, advance directive documents fell by 19% to 258 and inheritances decreased for the fifth consecutive year to 4,275.
Lleida registered more donations, more wills, and fewer inheritances in 2025
The increase in lifetime donations in the Lleida demarcation occurred in a year in which Catalonia reached 22,980 operations of this type, 22% more than in 2024 and the highest figure since 2007. In Lleida, the rise consolidates the growth line initiated after the pandemic.
Wills also advanced. Notaries authorized 7,928 in 2025, 112 more than a year earlier, with a predominance of people aged 56 to 70. This is the highest volume recorded in Lleida since 2021.
In contrast, advance directive documents declined for the second consecutive year. They closed the year at 258, 19% less, despite the fact that since 2024 the procedure can be formalized more easily from a CAP.
The evolution of inheritances was equally downward. Lleida processed 4,275 in 2025, thus chaining five years of decline, while renunciations remained stable at 550.
Mortgages rose 13% and new companies grew 16%
Notarial activity linked to the real estate market also increased in the Lleida regions. During 2025, 3,620 mortgage loans were authorized, 13% more than in 2024, in line with the upward trend detected in Catalonia as a whole.
Regarding this behavior, the vice-dean of the Notarial College of Catalonia focused on the sector's resilience during the last fiscal year.

The upturn also reached the business fabric. Lleida closed 2025 with 1,016 new companies, 16% more than the previous year, and reinforced the progress of operations formalized before a notary in the demarcation.
Divorces before a notary grew more than marriages in the demarcation
In the personal sphere, marriages before a notary in Lleida went from 108 to 113 in one year. In Catalonia, this type of union reached a historic high of 4,084, with an increase of 16% and a greater presence of people aged 26 to 40.
Divorces before a notary grew at a faster pace in the Lleida demarcation. They totaled 105 in 2025, 15% more than in 2024, and were mainly concentrated in the 41 to 55 age group.
The highest figure among inheritance and personal procedures was again in wills, with 7,928 authorizations in 2025 and a majority of testators between 56 and 70 years old.
