The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested Dino Marcello Miller, 56, this Friday in Lleida after he attempted to rob a supermarket on Baró de Maials street, in the Pardinyes neighborhood, with a toy gun. He had been released from prison on April 16 from the Ponent Penitentiary Center and did not manage to take anything.

The arrest occurred less than a month after his release from prison, even though that release had activated control measures due to a significant risk of recidivism being assessed. The arrest reopens a pattern already seen in April 2021, when a previous release ended with his arrest for two violent assaults in Lleida supermarkets.

He attempted to rob in Pardinyes and the Guardia Urbana arrested him in Balàfia

The attempted robbery occurred around 4:00 PM at number 44 Baró de Maials street. Miller threatened an employee with a toy gun and then fled the establishment without any loot.

After the workers' alert, the Mossos d'Esquadra reviewed the security cameras and identified the suspect. A little later, around 5:30 PM, a Guardia Urbana patrol located him on Enric Pubill Lo Parrano street, in the Balàfia neighborhood.

The intervention ended with the suspect's arrest just an hour and a half after the attempted robbery between two points in the city separated by a few kilometers.

His release from Ponent had already activated measures due to risk of recidivism

Miller had been released on April 16 from the Ponent Penitentiary Center. That release led to the activation of control measures because it was deemed that there was a relevant risk of him reoffending.

His criminal record includes previous convictions for the murder of former police officer Josep Gilart, for the death of an agent during a bank robbery, and for the death of another man in Barcelona. In April 2021, after another release from prison, the police arrested him again for two violent assaults in Lleida supermarkets.

Regarding this profile, Vicenç Alujas, psychologist and former unit chief of the DERT at Brians prison, made this assessment.

"He is a top-category psychopath. He has an antisocial disorder. He is not rehabilitated because he doesn't want to be, so there is a high probability that he will reoffend." - Vicenç Alujas, psychologist and former unit chief of the DERT at Brians prison

He will now await his appearance before the judge. The detainee must be brought before the judicial authorities within a maximum of 72 hours.
