The parking lot of the Cappont campus presents a deficient state of conservation that complicates daily mobility. The large potholes and sinkholes hinder vehicle circulation in an area of high attendance.

This situation has reactivated the complaints of the university community, neighbors, and workers in the area. The deteriorated asphalt surface generates continuous discomfort for those who use this space to park their cars.

The UdL confirms an investment of 1.2 million

The ownership of the land corresponds to the Universitat de Lleida (UdL), an institution that announced months ago its intention to reform the premises. However, the works have not yet begun despite the growing discontent among users.

In January, the university confirmed that the reform will be executed this year with an approximate investment of 1.2 million euros. The estimated time to complete the works is three months, according to the deadlines established by the academic administration.

The announcement arrived after weeks of pressure from those affected, who demanded an urgent solution. The lack of visible actions to date maintains uncertainty about the exact start date of the work.

The City Council acts in other areas of the city

While the campus awaits its renovation, the Paeria carried out improvement works last Wednesday in the parking lot of the Santa Maria hospital. This intervention is part of a broader strategy to condition other parking areas.

Municipal services have also worked in the districts of Secà and Balàfia. These actions contrast with the paralysis of the works in Cappont, where the responsibility falls exclusively on the public university.

The difference in execution times between both administrations is evident for drivers. Some see their parking areas being repaired while others continue to drive on uneven pavement.

The University of Lleida must now comply with the announced calendar to avoid further erosion of public trust. The budgeted 1.2 million euros must translate into a tangible improvement before the end of the planned quarter.
