Nipro will move its Mollerussa plant to the Torre Solé industrial estate in Lleida with an investment of 25 million euros and plans to launch the new facilities in 2028, once planning and permit processing are complete.
The operation concentrates in Lleida an activity that is already carried out in Pla d'Urgell and, at the same time, will expand the company's production capacity in Catalonia. The company presents the project as a relocation, but the new complex is set to become one of its main production centers in Europe for hemodialysis materials.
Nipro plans to open one of its major European centers in 2028
The facilities will be located next to the LL-11 and the southern bypass, in a location that the Japanese multinational has chosen for its logistical connectivity, the availability of talent, and the possibility of sustaining its operational growth in the region.
The company explains that the action combines the relocation of the current plant with an expansion of operations. The objective, they add, is to preserve and reinforce the industrial activity already established in the area and to ensure long-term continuity of the project in Catalonia.
In the future Lleida plant, the company will produce acid concentrates for hemodialysis and bicarbonate cartridges for the treatment of severe kidney failure. This leap in scale will position the center among the main ones in Europe for this manufacturing line.
The arrival at Torre Solé brings the industrial estate close to full occupancy
The establishment of Nipro will leave the Torre Solé industrial estate practically complete, a privately promoted sector that has channeled this operation with the support of the City Council's Invest in Lleida and Talent Office.
The firm also links the relocation to the progressive creation of employment as activity increases. More than forty people currently work at the Mollerussa plant, forming the current base for operations that the company wants to strengthen in the Lleida area.
Nipro Corporation was founded in Osaka in 1954, has more than 38,000 employees, and is present in more than sixty countries, a dimension with which the company now frames its 25 million investment to maintain industrial activity in Catalonia.
