The 30th edition of the Moros i Cristians de Lleida festival gathers this weekend six comparsas and nearly 700 participants in a program that will culminate with the battle in Sant Joan square starting at 9:30 PM.
The recreation will again revolve around the failure of negotiations between the embassies, an outcome that leads to the central confrontation of the day after a festive route through various points in the city center.
Six comparsas will parade from Porta del Lleó to Paeria
During the day, the festival includes the children's entrance, the presentation of five musical formations and the Concurs de Bandes, before the start of the Desfilada de Lluïment. The comparsas will gather at Porta del Lleó to start a route that will reach Paeria.
The celebration reaches its 30th edition with six comparsas and nearly 700 participants, a figure that sustains one of the popular culture events with the most deployment in the capital of Segrià.
In addition to the scenic component, the speeches of the flag bearers incorporated references to local and Catalan current affairs. The texts, written by journalist Jordi Sebastià, alluded to the decline in the use of Catalan, the upcoming municipal elections, the works of Torre Salses, the footballer Lamin Yamal, a possible papal blessing of the Seu Vella for its declaration as world heritage and a request for greater support for popular culture.
The battle will recover the two locations already used in 2024
At night, the representation will recover last year's scheme with two different stages. The first scenes will take place next to the Canonja, after the Pont Llevadís, and the second part will move in front of the Porta dels Apòstols.
Afterwards, the narrative will lead to Sant Joan square, where the failure of negotiations between the embassies will result in the battle scheduled for 9:30 PM. The dialogues of that staging bear the signature of the writer and philologist Joana Alba Cercós.
Jesús Masip, who leads the Christian troops as Comte, advanced the tone of the outcome.

On the Moorish side, Dolors Carulla will repeat, who will again assume the role of Saïda in command of her troops in an edition that also maintains the two locations already used in 2024, next to the Canonja after the Pont Llevadís and in front of the Porta dels Apòstols.
