The Guissona Municipal Guard and the Mossos d'Esquadra arrested two men, aged 23 and 41, accused of being part of a network specialized in copper theft after several assaults at a BonÀrea construction site in Guissona. Investigators attribute to them the theft of electrical wiring from an electric vehicle charger installation that was under construction.

The sequence caught the attention of the police forces due to the chosen target. While the construction of an infrastructure linked to electric mobility was progressing, three men entered the premises several times to steal the wiring that was supposed to power it. The thefts also occurred within a very specific timeframe, between May 17 and May 24.

The gang struck three times in May at the BonÀrea construction site

The assaults were recorded on May 15, 18, and 23 at the construction site where the wiring was exposed. The Mossos d'Esquadra specified that three men accessed that area on several occasions to steal copper from the installation.

Surveillance began after the BonÀrea security guard alerted the local police. Following that alert, the Guissona Municipal Guard and the Mossos activated a plan to monitor the suspects' movements in the Segarra region.

Before their arrival in Guissona, the Civil Guard had asked local authorities to track the gang because they had already operated in Murcia and Valencia. This information placed the thefts at the BonÀrea installation within a broader pattern of activity and not as an isolated incident in the municipality.

The Mossos set up night patrols and stopped the car on the A-2

With this information, the Mossos d'Esquadra established night patrols on Fridays and Saturdays to try to intercept the perpetrators. The operation focused on the exit routes used after the thefts and the road access points in the area.

The arrest occurred around midnight when officers intercepted a vehicle linked to the thefts on the A-2. The operation stemmed from a new alert from the municipal guard and ended with the arrest of two men, aged 23 and 41, allegedly linked to the network.

Investigators place the theft of copper from the BonÀrea electric vehicle charger installation between May 17 and May 24, following three entries into the construction site recorded on May 15, 18, and 23.
