About fifty people gathered yesterday in Plaça Major in Tàrrega against fascism, coinciding with the inauguration of the new Aliança Catalana premises in the city. A large police presence prevented the protesters from approaching the building where the party opened its headquarters.
The protest took place at the same time as the party unveiled its space in Tàrrega, even though the premises had suffered vandalism hours before the opening. The headquarters is the seventh for Aliança Catalana in Catalonia and the second in the Lleida demarcation.
The protest gathered about 50 people in Plaça Major
During the gathering, attendees displayed banners with the slogans Tàrrega antifeixista and Aturem el feixisme. They also chanted slogans such as "Fascists out of our neighborhoods" and "You don't deserve the senyera you wear."
The police deployment controlled access to the area and kept the protesters separated from the building inaugurated by Aliança Catalana.
Viqui Novell presented the headquarters as the party's second in Lleida
Rosa Maria Soberana, a deputy for Aliança Catalana for Lleida, participated in the inauguration event. The opening in Tàrrega expands the party's premises to seven in Catalonia.
Viqui Novell, Aliança's candidate for Tàrrega, defended the opening of the headquarters in the city.
"We are presenting ourselves with great enthusiasm and commitment to the city, with the goal of Tàrrega moving forward" - Viqui Novell, Aliança's candidate for Tàrrega
