The Isma vehicle body and paint shop, in Lleida, suffered losses of about 2,000 euros as a result of an electrical outage that interrupted the finishing of two cars and rendered useless the work that was being carried out at that moment.

The business owner, Ismael Antequera, explains that the lack of supply forced the painting process to stop when a coat was still missing, which led him to scrape the surface and start again. The result, he points out, was that the work was rendered useless.
Two vehicles affected by the interruption
The incident fully affected two cars that were in the finishing phase. In a bodywork and paint job, the continuity of the process is key to complete the result in conditions, and the interruption of the supply left the workshop without room for maneuver.
Antequera tried to find a diesel generator to maintain the activity, but did not succeed. The rental services were collapsed and that alternative did not arrive in time to save the work that had been left half-finished.
The squad left the activity at noon
The lack of certainty about the return of the light also conditioned the rest of the day. The employees left at noon as they did not have the certainty that the supply would be restored and allow activity to resume normally.
That stoppage left the workshop without the capacity to continue with the planned works during the day and aggravated the impact of the incident on a business that depends on machinery and electrical processes to maintain its usual pace.
Measures for future blackouts
After what happened, Antequera has decided to take precautions to prevent a similar situation from compromising the establishment's activity again. He has already prepared the installation to connect a generator in case of new blackouts.
With that adaptation, the objective is to guarantee the continuity of the workshop in the face of future supply interruptions and reduce the risk that an electrical outage will again result in economic losses and wasted work.
