Seven people have been injured, one of them seriously and among them a minor, in a head-on collision between two cars on the N II as it passes through Sidamon. The accident occurred at 3:50 PM on kilometer 479 of this road, for reasons that are under investigation. The incident has forced the mobilization of a large emergency response in the midst of the Easter return operation.

Seven SEM ambulances, six units of the Generalitat Firefighters, and patrols of the Mossos d'Esquadra have been dispatched to the scene. Five of the seven affected have had to be rescued after being trapped inside the vehicles, which has complicated the assistance and evacuation tasks.

One seriously injured and six more affected transferred to Lleida

The toll of those affected leaves one adult seriously injured, three adults with injuries of varying severity and two adults along with a minor with minor injuries. All the injured have been evacuated by ambulance to the Arnau de Vilanova hospital in Lleida, where they have been attended to after the crash.

The collision has caused the total closure of the N II for a few minutes. Afterwards, an alternative passage has been enabled, although the incident has generated traffic jams at a time of high mobility on the road network of the demarcation, especially on axes like the A 2 and the C 14.

Afternoon with several incidents on the roads of Ponent

During the same afternoon, two other collisions have been registered on the A 2, one in Sidamon and another in Soses, although in both cases there have only been material damages. Also on the C 26, in Artesa de Segre, a tractor has overturned in a roundabout and its driver has emerged unharmed.

The regions of Lleida close Holy Week with one deceased and three seriously injured in traffic accidents. The fatal victim is an 89-year-old resident of Alfarràs, who died at Arnau de Vilanova hospital hours after being run over on Saturday at noon inside the municipality.

That same Saturday, two serious injuries were also recorded in separate accidents on the C 12, in Llardecans, and on the L 510, in Alins. Both were evacuated by helicopter. In the Llardecans accident there were also three other injured people, while in the Alins one another affected person was treated. The frontal collision in Sidamon thus increases healthcare pressure on a particularly intense day for emergency services on Lleida's roads.
