The new POUM of Lleida draws a transformation of the avenue of l'Exèrcit with the objective of giving it "a new facade" in one of the main entrances to the city. The urban proposal foresees incorporating housing, facilities and green areas, in addition to opening a new access to the Turó de Gardeny.
The maximum forecast in this sector is 552 homes, of which 214 would be protected. The urban planning document also reserves 9,607 square meters of green areas within an action that seeks to reorder this urban front and strengthen its connection with the surroundings.
Housing, green areas and access to Gardeny
The action on the avenue of l'Exèrcit is proposed as one of the outstanding operations of the new planning. The objective is to renew the image of this access to Lleida with a combination of residential use, facilities and free spaces.
The POUM incorporates, in addition, the creation of a new access to Turó de Gardeny, a strategic point within the city both for its patrimonial value and for its role in mobility between neighborhoods and facilities.
In numbers, the planning sets a ceiling of 552 homes. Of that total, 214 would be protected, while the surface area designated for green zones would reach 9,607 square meters.
The performance fits with a previous proposal
The improvement foreseen for this area goes along the same lines as a proposal previously put forward by the PP. The new planning takes up that orientation in a broader scope intervention, already integrated into the general city model that the POUM draws.
Boost to the Gardeny environment and to the business park
The urban planning document also focuses on the Gardeny area. In this area, it proposes the consolidation of 50.9 hectares to be exclusively dedicated to the activity of the park's companies, with the intention of reinforcing their specialization and their growth capacity.
Among the planned measures is a general improvement of access to the park, as well as actions to improve its connection with the rest of the city. Mobility thus appears as one of the central pieces of the proposal.
Castell dels Templers and great commercial axis
The POUM also includes the will to enhance the Castell dels Templers. For this purpose, it proposes to enable a gastronomic point with views of l'Horta and the city, in addition to utilizing disused buildings of the complex to give them a new utility.
In parallel, the planning prioritizes extending the Eix with Alcalde Costa to Gardeny through a large commercial thoroughfare. The intention is to stitch this sector with the urban fabric of Lleida and strengthen both economic activity and accessibility in one of the spaces with the greatest transformation capacity in the city.
