The strike by medical professionals in SISCAT centers has registered a 5.3% turnout during the morning, according to the provisional balance released by the Department of Health of the Generalitat. The Metges de Catalunya union, convener of the strike, places the adherence at 31% in the system as a whole.
The protest affects this Thursday and Friday and is part of the calendar of mobilizations promoted by the medical collective. This is the eighth and ninth strike since October, called to demand their own agreement and labor improvements.
Disparate Data Between Health and the Union
The main discrepancy focuses on the actual scope of the follow-up. While Health lowers the incidence to 5.3% in the morning shift, Metges de Catalunya maintains that participation is notably higher. In its count, 39% of primary care physicians in Catalonia have supported the strike and 26% of hospital care doctors have joined the stoppage.
The difference between both figures again evidences the open pulse between the administration and the union around a call that seeks to pressure in the negotiation of the labor conditions of the collective.
Incident in Lleida
In Lleida, Metges de Catalunya raises to 25% the participation in primary care and to 50% in the Arnau de Vilanova hospital. In this center, operations and visits have been canceled due to the strike day.
The call is also maintained for this Friday, in a new episode of the labor conflict that the union has been sustaining for months to demand its own negotiation framework and improvements in the working conditions of the medical professionals of the Catalan concerted healthcare system.
