The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested on Friday night in Albatàrrec four people who were fleeing from an AP 2 service area in Montblanc, after a warning about a possible theft of merchandise from trucks. The intervention was activated at 11:25 p.m. and ended with the vehicle intercepted in the Lleida demarcation.
Notice for suspicious movements in a service area of Montblanc
The alert went off when a witness saw three people running out towards a car that left the place via the AP 2. From that moment, the Mossos deployed an operation to locate the vehicle and cut off its escape in the direction of Ponent.
To stop the progress of the car, the police caused a hold-up on the highway. Shortly after, ARRO officers from Ponent managed to stop it in Albatàrrec and identified its occupants. The four ended up arrested.
Seized tools and damages on two trucks
During the operation, the agents located gloves, cutters, and balaclavas among the belongings of the arrested individuals. Furthermore, they verified that at least two trucks parked in the service area of the AP 2 in Montblanc had their tarpaulins cut.
Despite the damage detected, the Mossos did not confirm the theft of merchandise in the inspected vehicles. The investigation remains open to clarify what happened in the parking area and the degree of participation of each of the detainees.
Background outside of Catalonia
The four arrested have a record for robberies outside Catalonia. The police action allowed to stop the getaway a few hours after the initial alert and restore normality to traffic on the AP 2, while the Mossos continue with the proceedings regarding the events that occurred in the Montblanc service area.
