The Meteorological Service of Catalonia has activated a new round of warnings for torrential rains for the afternoon of this Monday and Tuesday, with special incidence on the central coast and pre-coastal areas and in the northeast of the territory.

The most complicated day will be this Monday. The models point to showers with accumulations of up to 20 liters per square meter in just 30 minutes, first irregularly during the morning and then with more intensity from midday, when the risk will increase in about fifteen counties.

Fifteen counties will have warnings this Monday and four will rise to orange level

During the morning, the yellow warning will be active from Empordà to the Alt Camp area, passing through Selva, Vallès, Baix Llobregat, and Penedès. The forecast reaches at least a dozen counties.

Although the morning showers will be irregular, Meteocat maintains the possibility of isolated torrential downpours. From midday and during the afternoon, the forecast concentrates more intense rains in the northeast.

In that part of the day, fifteen counties will be under warning. Gironès, Empordà, Garrotxa, and Pla de l'Estany will have orange level, which corresponds to a danger level of three out of six on the meteorological risk scale.

In addition, the yellow warning will remain active in other areas such as Maresme, Baix Llobregat, and Garraf. In the northeast, the showers could be accompanied by storms and even hail.

On Tuesday, storms will repeat in the northeast, although with less extent

The episode will not end on Monday. For Tuesday afternoon, the models maintain the formation of new showers, although with a more limited impact than that predicted for the beginning of the week.

The counties under yellow warning will be five and all are located in the northeast. The forecast includes Empordà, Gironès, Ripollès, Garrotxa, and Osona.

Protecció Civil maintains its warning system activated for torrential rains and asks the population to exercise extreme caution while the episode lasts.

The meteorological models also contemplate torrential precipitation for Tuesday, with the possibility of a large amount of water falling again in a very short time in parts of the northeast.
