Protecció Civil has activated the Inuncat plan in alert phase given the forecast of intense rain from this afternoon in regions of the Pirineu and the Prepirineu catalán. The risk episode begins at 14 hours this Friday and will extend until early tomorrow night.
The warning has been activated due to the forecast from the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya, which places these areas under yellow warning for intense rainfall. The forecast points to records of up to 20 liters per square meter in thirty minutes, an intensity that can complicate mobility and outdoor activities in short periods of time.
Regions under warning for intense rains
The alert affects twelve inland and northeastern comarcas of Catalonia. Specifically, the intense rain episode is expected in Alta Ribagorça, Pallars Sobirà, Pallars Jussà, l Alt Urgell, Cerdanya, Solsonès, Berguedà, Ripollès, Lluçanès, Osona, Garrotxa, and Selva.
The most sensitive period will extend from this afternoon until tomorrow night, with special attention to the mountain and pre-coastal regions included in the meteorological warning. The activation of Inuncat in alert phase allows reinforcing the monitoring of the situation and conveying preventive recommendations to the population.
Request for caution on the road and outdoors
Protecció Civil has asked for caution from the citizenry, especially to those who have to travel through these regions or carry out activities outdoors during the next hours. The recommendation focuses on exercising extreme caution if one must drive through these areas or do outdoor activities, given the possibility of intense and rapidly appearing showers.
The monitoring of the episode will be maintained throughout the entire foreseen risk band, on a day marked by instability in a good part of the Catalan Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees.
