The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested this Wednesday in Olot two men aged 18 and 34 as alleged perpetrators of the death by stabbing of a 31-year-old city resident. The arrests occurred this afternoon in the capital of La Garrotxa, after three days of search.
The victim is Adrián Romero, a 31-year-old resident of Olot. His official identification has been possible after the autopsy, the tests carried out on Monday at the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences of Girona, and the investigative efforts made by the Catalan police. The family already considered him identified a few hours after the crime.
The crime occurred in the early hours in Sant Miquel
The events date back to two in the morning on Sunday the 22nd, on dels Almogàvers street, in the Sant Miquel neighborhood of Olot. Some neighbors alerted the Mossos d'Esquadra upon seeing a man wounded on the ground and with blood around him.
Patrols from the Mossos d'Esquadra, the Olot Local Police, and personnel from the Medical Emergencies System moved to the scene. The paramedics could not save his life and the victim died at the scene.
DIC Investigation in the Girona Police Region
The Criminal Investigation Division of the Girona Police Region took over the investigation to identify the victim and clarify the circumstances of the crime. Three days after the events, the Mossos have arrested two alleged individuals involved in the violent death.
The case is under summary secrecy, so no further details have emerged about the investigation or about the link that the arrested individuals might have with the victim. It is expected that both will appear before the duty court of Olot in the coming days.
Request for help from the family
In parallel to the judicial investigation, Adrián Romero's family has asked for financial help to face the funeral expenses and so that the victim's mother can say her last goodbye. While the procedure advances, Olot remains pending the complete clarification of a crime that has shaken the Sant Miquel neighborhood.
