The Mossos d'Esquadra have dismantled a marijuana plantation hidden inside a warehouse in the Torrefarrera industrial estate. The operation has led to the arrest of three men as alleged perpetrators of the cultivation and sale of narcotics.

The operation concluded with the discovery of almost a thousand plants in the process of drying inside an attic conditioned for that purpose. The agents acted after months of surveillance on a property that was officially registered as an agricultural warehouse.

The investigation began due to a suspicious smell

The events date back to last April. The Investigation Unit of the Lleida police station received indications of possible illicit activity in a warehouse in this municipality of Segrià. The agents began discreet surveillance tasks around the building.

During the surveillance, police officers detected a slight smell of marijuana emanating from the outside. They also perceived the constant noise of a ventilation motor coming from inside. These signs alerted them to the existence of an intensive cultivation system.

The investigators identified the owner of the ship. They observed him enter on several occasions to carry out supposed maintenance tasks. His behavior reinforced suspicions about the real nature of the activity that was taking place inside.

Hundreds of plants seized in the attic

Last Tuesday, agents accessed the interior of the premises. They located the plantation distributed on a loft specifically enabled for it. The operation allowed for the seizure of a total of 61 plants with buds in an advanced state of growth.

Furthermore, the mossos found 921 plants in the drying process. Along with the drug, they seized material for intensive cultivation. The seizure included 11 LED lamps, an air extractor box, and various phytosanitary products.

As a result of these investigations, the Mossos d'Esquadra arrested three men. They are 51, 42, and 19 years old. They are being investigated as alleged perpetrators of a crime against public health.

The detainees were brought before the court on Thursday. The investigation remains open to determine if more people were involved in the drug distribution network cultivated in Torrefarrera.
