Three people were seriously injured this Wednesday afternoon in a head-on collision between a van and a bus without passengers on the GI 634, at the height of Jafre. The three affected were traveling in the van and were evacuated to the Trueta hospital of Girona after an accident that forced to cut the circulation at this point of the road.

The alert to the Bombers de la Generalitat arrived two minutes before six in the afternoon. To the place were dispatched six units to intervene in the accident, in which one of the occupants of the van remained trapped between the scrap metal and had to be extricated.

Wide deployment of emergencies on the GI 634

The Medical Emergencies System activated three ambulances and a medicalized helicopter to attend to the injured. The three occupants of the van were transferred in serious condition to Trueta, while the bus was traveling without passengers at the moment of impact.

The intervention focused on the healthcare of the injured and on the release of the occupant who had remained trapped inside the vehicle. The severity of the crash forced the mobilization of several emergency resources on a stretch of road near Jafre.

Two injured remain hospitalized

This Thursday, two of the three injured remain hospitalized. One remains on the ward and another remains under postsurgical observation. The third affected has already been discharged.

The Mossos d'Esquadra de Trànsit cut off traffic on the GI 634 after the accident and keep the investigation open to clarify the causes of the head-on collision registered this Wednesday afternoon in Jafre.
