Three people were arrested this Thursday in Figueres during a joint police operation deployed in the vicinity of the station and the city's weekly markets. The arrests were made for infractions of the immigration law and the three detainees are multiple repeat offenders.
The operation was carried out within the Tremall operation, a police plan focused on combating criminal multi-reoffending and reinforcing surveillance in sensitive points and spaces with a large influx of people. The Guàrdia Urbana of Figueres, the Mossos d'Esquadra, and the National Police Corps participated in the operation.
Action in a transit zone and high concurrence
The deployment focused on two of the busiest areas of the city, the station area and the vicinity of the weekly markets. During the intervention, agents also located two people with judicial requirements for address verification.
This judicial procedure allows determining the whereabouts of a person in order to serve them pending notifications. It is a common proceeding when a court needs to locate someone to continue an action or communicate a resolution.
Expulsion file underway
In addition to these locations, the balance of the operation closed with three arrests for immigration offenses. The arrested individuals were transferred to facilities of the National Police Corps, where the expulsion file and the withdrawal of their passport were initiated for them.
The Tremall operation follows the line of police reinforcement in areas considered sensitive in Figueres, with controls aimed at detecting repeat offenders, verifying irregular administrative situations, and responding to pending judicial requirements in spaces with a special concentration of people.
