A 49-year-old man of Serbian nationality was shot in the leg during a shooting that occurred on Thursday night in a housing development in Lloret de Mar. The events took place in the middle of the night and mobilized the emergency services of the Costa Brava.

The victim was initially transferred to the Blanes regional hospital, where he arrived shortly after 11:00 PM. After receiving initial medical assistance, the Medical Emergency Service (SEM) decided to evacuate him with greater urgency to the Josep Trueta hospital in Girona. The patient remains admitted to this health center, although his health condition is not life-threatening.

Police investigate clan revenge

The Criminal Investigation Division of Girona of the Mossos d'Esquadra has opened an exhaustive investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the attack. The agents are working to locate the precise point where the shots were fired, identify all participants in the assault, and clarify who transported the injured person to the first hospital center.

The investigations point to a direct reprisal within the open war between the Balkan clans Skaljari and Kavac. These criminal organizations specialize in the massive importation of cocaine from South America to the European continent.

The armed conflict that these two factions face has left a trail of extreme violence outside their countries of origin. Authorities estimate that this struggle has caused between 60 and 70 homicides in different parts of Europe in recent years.

Barcelona registers three deaths in ten months

Catalonia is not immune to this imported escalation of violence. In Barcelona and its metropolitan area, the confrontation between these groups has left a toll of at least three fatalities and four shootings recorded in a period of just ten months. The latest incident in this series took place in mid-April, indicating constant activity of these networks in the territory.

Investigators continue to analyze all the evidence collected at the crime scene in Lloret de Mar. The priority objective is to establish the real scope of the confrontation and achieve the judicial identification of all those involved in the shooting.

The Serbian victim remains under medical supervision in Girona while the judicial police advance in the reconstruction of the events. The Mossos d'Esquadra maintain the line of investigation focused on the international connection of the alleged perpetrators.
