A 40-year-old man was arrested this Friday in Girona by the Mossos d'Esquadra as the alleged perpetrator of the theft of a high-end bicycle valued at 12,000 euros. The police intervention occurred on the same day as the events, after swift action in the Barri Vell and the area of the old Simon factory.
Robbery on Bellaire Street in Barri Vell
The incident was registered around ten in the morning on Bellaire street, a central street in Girona's Barri Vell. The victim had left his bicycle and helmet outside a cafeteria. Upon leaving, he discovered that both items had disappeared. He immediately alerted the Mossos d'Esquadra and provided a detailed description of the stolen material and the alleged perpetrator.
Location and arrest at the old Simon factory
Around five in the afternoon, a patrol from the Girona police station located the suspect as he was accessing the disused warehouses of the old Simon factory, located on Barcelona street. The man was carrying the stolen bicycle and helmet. The officers entered the property and, after identifying him, confirmed that he fully matched the description provided by the victim.
The arrest occurred on the same day as the events and the man, with a police record, was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a theft. The Mossos recovered the bicycle and the helmet, which were subsequently returned to their owner.
