The consultation to teaching staff on the pre-agreement reached between the majority unions and the Departament d'Educació will begin on Monday at 12:00 PM and will close on Thursday at the same time. During that period, USTEC and Professors de Secundària, Aspepc, have suspended the territorial strikes planned between Monday and Thursday, although they maintain the general strike called for Friday the 5th.

The turn comes after weeks of mobilizations and leaves a paradox in the conflict. The regional stoppages are put on hold while a vote is held on an agreement that divides the union bloc, as CGT has already announced a campaign for a "no" vote and minority unions maintain that the text leaves out a relevant part of their demands.

The vote halts four territorial days but not the strike on Friday the 5th

USTEC, CGT, Intersindical, and COS will send the consultation to teachers on Monday at 12:00 PM via corporate email. Teaching staff will be able to respond until Thursday, also at 12:00 PM.

The territorial strikes planned for the central and Girona regions on Monday, for Barcelonès on Tuesday, for Tarragona and Terres de l'Ebre on Wednesday, and for Lleida, l'Alt Pirineu, and l'Aran on Thursday are suspended as a day of reflection.

In contrast, USTEC and Aspepc maintain the general call for Friday the 5th pending the result. That stoppage will be the last of a cycle of 18 strikes called in May and June, of which 13 have already taken place.

The pre-agreement adds 726 million and sets increases up to 173.30 euros per month by 2029

The proposal incorporates 50 euros additional to the newly created supplement, which will reach 173.30 euros per month by 2029. The planned breakdown is 50 euros in 2026, 52.25 in 2027, 103.30 in 2028, and 173.30 in 2029, with an additional 2,426.20 euros annually at the end of the period.

Educació adds these amounts to the 30% increase in the specific supplement agreed in March with CCOO and UGT and to state increases. With this calculation, teachers will receive between 599.50 and 633.58 euros gross per month more over four years.

The text also includes the recovery of the debt for the six-year periods (sexenios) over five years, with the payment of amounts not received during the cuts. Furthermore, it foresees 5,000 professorships for secondary education in two years, with 2,500 positions next year and another 2,500 the following year.

The addendum also adds reinforcements for inclusive schooling. The forecast is 1,088 allocations for the next academic year, 1,651 in 2027-2028, and 2,023 in 2029-2030, for a total of 6,413.

CGT rejects the text and minority unions maintain fundamental criticisms

CGT has communicated that it will defend a "no" vote in the consultation. Along with Intersindical and COS, it considers that the pre-agreement does not incorporate a substantial part of the demands made during the conflict.

Among these demands are a greater reduction in ratios, improvements for other groups, the recovery of lost purchasing power, salary review clauses, the repeal of decrees that limit democracy in schools, changes in the curriculum, and the safeguarding of Catalan.

For its part, the department maintains that the pre-agreement represents progress in the recognition of teachers' working conditions and in the improvement of educational quality. The new commitments will be included in an addendum valued at 726 million euros, which is added to the 2,000 million agreed in March with CCOO and UGT.
