The Local Police of Girona arrested on Monday, May 25 at 7:15 p.m. two men, aged 42 and 35, for a burglary inside a vehicle on Josep Maria Gironella i Pous street, in the Sant Narcís neighborhood.

The case was resolved in the same area and in a few minutes, with an unusual circumstance. The victim of the robbery was an off-duty officer, who detained one of the suspects on Oviedo street while the patrol located the other hidden between two columns at number one on the same street where the assault was committed.

The stolen items were a black sports bag, two pairs of sneakers, a sweatshirt, a cap, and 180 euros in cash. The intervention allowed for the recovery of part of this material in Sant Narcís.

There, the officers found the first arrested person hidden between two columns at number one on Josep Maria Gironella i Pous street. He was carrying the bag and the stolen items, although the cap and the money reported by the victim were missing.

Meanwhile, the second suspect was detained on Oviedo street by the off-duty officer who had been robbed. When they saw him, he was wearing the stolen cap and was counting a wad of bills that practically matched the reported amount.

One of the arrested had a record for car burglaries

The Local Police identified the detainees as two men, aged 42 and 35. The 42-year-old arrested had a record for property crimes linked to burglaries inside vehicles.

The second detainee, aged 35, had no prior record. Both were arrested after the police action initiated following the robbery on Josep Maria Gironella i Pous street.

The 35-year-old man was intercepted on Oviedo street with the stolen cap and a wad of bills that practically matched the 180 euros reported after the robbery.
