Girona experienced one of the busiest days of Temps de Flors this Saturday, with full trains, crowded city access points, and very strained parking lots from early in the morning. The highest concentration of visitors was registered in the Barri Vell, especially on the Cathedral stairs, the statue of the Lleona, the ascent of Sant Martí, and the bridges over the Onyar River.

The day presented a dual image in the city center. While thousands of people toured the main floral installations, rain and cloudy skies from midday onwards damaged some of the displays, altering their initial appearance at the peak of visitor numbers.

Rain damaged some installations during peak hours

The flow of visitors remained high throughout Saturday at the busiest points of the Temps de Flors route. In the Barri Vell, queues and slow movement were repeated at several access points, especially around the Cathedral and at the crossings towards the Onyar bridges.

After midday, the weather changed. Rain and overcast skies affected some floral installations, which no longer presented the same condition as at the start of the day.

Activities linked to the weekend also took place outside the historic center. In Plaça de l'U d'Octubre, the Banc de Sang i Teixits maintained its donation campaign with the slogan it's flower season, time to donate blood, time to receive life.

More than thirty people requested to perform at Montjuïc Castle

During Saturday morning, more than thirty people participated in an event by the Salvem el Castell de Montjuïc movement within the castle grounds, where they laid flowers. The gathering coincided with the high visitor numbers in the center but shifted the focus to another area of the municipality.

The organization advocated from the castle that it wants to turn it into a living emblem of Girona and a place of memory, coexistence, and pride for future generations. In the same event, it called for measures to halt the degradation of the site and reduce the risk of fires.

Furthermore, the movement proposed that the castle host a museum dedicated to the history of the Montjuïc neighborhood. The donation campaign by the Banc de Sang i Teixits in Plaça de l'U d'Octubre will remain open until Sunday at 2:00 PM.
