The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested a man for his alleged involvement in the theft of lambs from a livestock farm in Maçanet de la Selva and have recovered all the stolen animals. The police had a report of the incident since May 26, and this Wednesday they located about thirty head of cattle in Sant Cebrià de Vallalta, in Maresme.

The case had mobilized the agricultural sector because the stolen flock was not just any flock. Among the animals were young ewes and rams of the xisqueta breed, a native sheep variety from the Catalan Pyrenees, and their location came after a tip about their sale online led officers to another region.

Unió de Pagesos alerted the Mossos d'Esquadra that the animals were being offered on an advertising portal and that this sale could be linked to the recent thefts reported in Maçanet de la Selva. Based on this information, officers located about thirty head of cattle in Sant Cebrià de Vallalta.

The operation allowed the Mossos to recover all the stolen head of cattle from the livestock farm in Maçanet de la Selva. The detainee is being investigated for his alleged involvement in these events.

In addition to the stolen flock, officers found other animals in the same location. The investigation remains open to determine their origin and their connection to the thefts detected in the area.

The theft affected specimens of the xisqueta breed and mobilized two agricultural unions

The stolen flock consisted of young ewes and rams of the xisqueta breed, a native breed from the Catalan Pyrenees. This detail added another dimension to the theft due to the type of livestock affected and the impact on a specific farm in La Selva.

Before the location, Revolta Pagesa had publicly denounced the theft and had requested citizen collaboration to find the animals. In parallel, Unió de Pagesos provided the police with the lead about the online sale and later praised the speed of the police action and the arrest of the person allegedly involved.

This Wednesday, the location of about thirty animals in Sant Cebrià de Vallalta allowed for the recovery of all the stolen cattle from the farm in Maçanet de la Selva.
