A Kanpai operation deployed on Friday in the vicinity of Plaça Santa Maria in Puigcerdà resulted in two arrests, 237 individuals identified, and 21 citations, in an operation focused on nightlife and the most central streets of the municipality. The Mossos d'Esquadra, local police, Policia Nacional, Guàrdia Civil, Inspecció de Treball, and several specialized police units participated in the operation.

The outcome includes a statistic that concentrated a significant part of the intervention. The 237 individuals identified had 119 criminal records, and within that group, three alone accounted for 45, in an operation aimed at curbing recidivism, drug trafficking, and the possession of prohibited weapons.

The operation detected 9 citations for drugs and 7 for bladed weapons

The operation was carried out in two phases. First, officers set up checkpoints at the entrances and in the most central streets of Puigcerdà. Then, they reinforced patrols in the nightlife area located around Plaça Santa Maria.

During the operation, the participating forces issued 21 citations. Of that total, nine were for possession of narcotic substances and seven for possession of bladed weapons.

In addition, officers issued a citation for an airsoft pistol, another for an unapproved spray, and three more for disobedience and disrespect to law enforcement officers. The operation focused on crime prevention and the control of recidivist behavior in a highly frequented area of the municipality.

Two arrested and six establishments inspected in the nightlife area

The arrests made during the operation responded to two different alleged offenses. One of the detainees is related to an immigration law violation, and the other to a breach of a court order.

In parallel, officers inspected six establishments in Puigcerdà and issued citations for violations related to public performances and recreational activities. The operation also included the Unitat Regional de Policia Administrativa and the Inspecció de Treball to review this area.

There were also mobility checks. The operation concluded with four drivers cited after testing positive in an administrative check, in addition to six citations for traffic violations and the seizure of an electric scooter due to irregularities.

Together with the local police and the units of Seguretat Ciutadana, ARRO and the Unitat d'Investigació, the operation checked accesses, premises and streets in the center before concentrating on the night strip of Plaça Santa Maria and its surroundings.

Of the 21 reports processed, three were imposed for disobedience and disrespect to law enforcement officers.
