Girona located 201 homeless people during the night count carried out on the night of May 21, an operation in which 114 volunteers participated, distributed across 33 areas of the city.
The data widens the gap with previous records. The figure recorded in 2026 represents an increase of more than 80% compared to the last count, carried out in 2024, and an increase of 235% compared to the data from ten years ago.

The operation was deployed under the guidelines of the Homelessness team of the Girona City Council and the La Sopa Consortium Reception and Social Services Center, with the involvement of the Ombudsman's Office.
During the night, participants traveled to different points in the city's neighborhoods to locate people sleeping on the street or in inadequate spaces. The count allowed for a specific snapshot of the situation on a single night.
In total, the organization mobilized 114 volunteers to cover 33 zones distributed throughout Girona and complete the on-the-ground search.
