The Girona City Council has opened a new edition of the calls for support for audiovisual creation and video game development through El Modern. Audiovisual and Digital Center. The deadline for submitting applications began on May 28 and will end on June 17.
The call brings together two distinct lines under the same municipal facility. On the one hand, it allocates 20,000 euros to audiovisual projects in the post-production phase, and on the other, it offers three scholarships of 4,000 euros for video game teams that are still in the design and development phase.
El Modern distributes 20,000 euros among audiovisual projects in post-production
The audiovisual line is aimed at works that have already started editing and do not have an international sales agent confirmed. The selected projects will share a global endowment of 20,000 euros.
In addition to financial aid, the chosen works will be able to use the post-production room at El Modern. They will also have access to a technical screening on the big screen at Cinema Truffaut and a public premiere of the work.
Quim Ayats, deputy mayor and councilor for Culture, framed the call within the municipal strategy of support for the creative sector.
"With these calls, we want to continue promoting creative talent and reinforce Girona as a reference space for audiovisual and digital creation" - Quim Ayats, deputy mayor and councilor for Culture, Girona City Council
GameGi will grant three scholarships of 4,000 euros and six months of work
The second call corresponds to the GameGi video game incubation program, which will select three teams in the design and development phase. Each will receive a scholarship of 4,000 euros and a workspace for six months at El Modern.
During this period, participants will have access to weekly training and mentoring from industry professionals. The process will end with a DEMODAY before industry professionals and publishers.
Ayats added that the center supports audiovisual projects and also initiatives linked to video games with the aim of promoting the professionalization and projection of the creative teams.
Previous editions of the GameGi program have included projects such as Zoe's Game, Supernova Deliveries, Un Sant Jordi de Paper, Abanto, Wild Rumble, or FreeXpace.
The deadline to apply for both the audiovisual call and the GameGi program will be open until June 17.
