Sunday's strong winds left incidents across Catalonia, although the most intense impact was concentrated in the Girona regions, where 100 km/h was widely exceeded and road closures and disruptions to the railway network were recorded. The maximum gust was 168.5 km/h in Portbou, in Alt Empordà, a value that was also reached in the sanctuary of Queralt, in Berguedà.

The episode forced extreme caution during a good part of the day. Civil Protection had already sent on Saturday an ES Alert to six counties, Alt Empordà, Ripollès, Berguedà, Garrotxa, Solsonès and Cerdanya, and asked to avoid outdoor activities during Sunday due to the strong wind.

Very intense gusts in Girona and in inland areas

The highest records were located in the north and in elevated areas. In addition to Portbou and Queralt, Meteocat recorded 141.5 km/h in the Darnius Boadella reservoir, 115.9 km/h in Navata and 130 km/h in Tosa d'Alp, at 2,478 meters of altitude, on the border between Cerdanya and Berguedà.

Outside the Girona regions, the most notable gusts were 132.1 km/h in Puig Sesolles, in Vallès Oriental, 117.7 km/h in Sant Romà d"Abella, in Pallars Jussà, 109.8 km/h in Mas de Barberans, in Montsià, another 109.8 km/h in El Perelló, in Baix Ebre, and 100.4 km/h in Molló, in Ripollès.

Fallen trees and cuts in the road network

Tree falls caused disruptions during the morning on about fifteen roads, almost all in the Girona demarcation. At 15:00 hours, the GI 502 in Darnius and the asphalted road between Darnius and Boadella d"Empordà remained cut off, both in Alt Empordà.

At that same time also continued cut a lane in direction Barcelona of the AP 7 at the height of Vilademuls, in the Pla de l"Estany.

During the morning there were incidents at several points of the Girona secondary network, among them the GIV 5232 between Tortellà and Montagut, the GIV 5234 in Beuda, the GIV 5221 from Montagut to Camprodon, the GIV 4011 in Campelles, the GIV 5223 in Camprodon, the GIV 5265 in Vilallonga de Ter, the GI 505 in La Vajol, the GIV 5132 in Fontcoberta, the GIV 6641 on the road dels Àngels within the municipality of Quart and the C 255 between Pont Major and Campdorà, in Girona.

The only affected road outside the Girona demarcation was the C 61 in Arenys de Mar, in Maresme.

Suspensions in the R11 and the R3

The strong wind also altered the railway service. Renfe preventively interrupted circulation between Figueres and Portbou, on the R11, and between Vic and Ripoll, on the R3, from 08:00 to 13:00 on Sunday. During that interval, an alternative road service was offered.

The interruption on the R11 was later extended until 16:00 hours due to the persistence of strong gusts of wind. On the R3, circulation between Vic and Ripoll was restored around 17:00 hours. The first train scheduled after the reopening was the one departing from La Garriga at 17:16 hours and arriving in Ripoll at 18:35 hours.

Around 6:00 p.m., circulation was also reestablished between Figueres and Portbou on the R11, although Renfe maintained the alternative road service after the reopening. The day thus closed with a progressive improvement in mobility, but with several incidents still visible in parts of Girona after an episode of particularly intense wind.
