Girona will activate a special security and mobility device for Temps de Flors between May 9 and 17, with 218 extraordinary services from the Municipal Police focused on traffic, access to the Barri Vell, and preventive surveillance in the most crowded spaces.

The main tension of the operation is in the very configuration of the sample. The festival attracts a large volume of visitors to the historic center, but at the same time it forces the limitation of vehicle circulation in one of the points with the most concentration of people in the city for nine consecutive days.

The Barri Vell restricts vehicle access between 9:30 and 21:00

Vehicle access to the Barri Vell will be restricted every day between 9:30 AM and 9:00 PM through five perimeter closure points. The device seeks to regulate entry into an area that concentrates a large part of the floral displays and visitor flow.

Mossos d'Esquadra will assume control of the point located between plaça de Sant Feliu and carrer dels Calderers. The Municipal Police will manage the other four closures, located at pont de Pedra with rambla de la Llibertat, plaça del Vi with carrer Nou, pujada del Rei Martí with carrer del Portal de la Barca, and plaça de la Catedral with the Col·legi d'Arquitectes car park.

In addition to access controls, the plan foresees 218 extraordinary services during the nine days of the exhibition. Agents will reinforce their presence on foot, by motorcycle, and also in plain clothes both within the restricted zone and in other parts of Girona.

"Temps de Flors is a city event that brings a large influx of visitors and, for this reason, it is essential to deploy a specific device that allows us to guarantee safety, mobility, and coexistence during all the days of the exhibition" - Sílvia Aliu, deputy mayor and councilor for Resource Management and Citizen Participation and Coexistence and Security

Aliu also underlines in the statement the coordination between the Municipal Police and Mossos d'Esquadra, along with the preventive and proximity work of the uniformed and plainclothes officers throughout the celebration.

The operation reinforces bus control and nighttime patrolling

The deployment includes the supervision of the arrival and departure of tourist and visitor buses, in addition to traffic regulation in areas with a high concentration of people. Surveillance will also be extended to parking violations in green spaces, prohibited areas, and temporarily enabled areas.

At night, the Municipal Police will increase patrols to protect the floral projects. The objective is to prevent incidents such as graffiti or vandalism when public attendance decreases and the installations are more exposed.

One of the five perimeter closure points will be under the control of Mossos d'Esquadra between Plaça de Sant Feliu and Carrer dels Calderers, while the Municipal Police will assume the other four accesses of the device planned for the Barri Vell.
