An assault between attendees of the Chaos in the Sun festival forced the Local Police of Calella to intervene around 00:25 hours in Jovara street, in the very center of the municipality. At least two patrols responded to the scene and the victim received medical assistance, although they ultimately did not file a complaint.

The incident occurred while the Mossos d'Esquadra maintained an operation outside the venue to prevent hate crimes in public spaces. The main limitation of the operation is that the festival is held on private property in Santa Susanna, where the regional police force does not operate in the same way as in public areas.

Mossos activated external surveillance while the festival continued on private property

Chaos in the Sun brings together far-right musical groups from the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, Belgium, Germany, and France. The gathering has been held from Friday to Saturday on private property in Santa Susanna and is now in its fourth consecutive edition.

Since Friday, the Mossos deployed officers from the Citizen Security Unit with the aim of preventing incidents and hate crimes outside the venue. The operation is concentrated in public spaces because police powers are limited to the exterior of the private property where the event takes place.

"The objective is to preserve fundamental rights in public spaces, as well as safety and coexistence in the municipality" - sources from the Mossos d'Esquadra

The assault recorded in Calella occurred precisely outside the main festival venue. The municipal intervention ended with the victim assisted by medical services and no subsequent complaint, a fact that conditions any immediate criminal proceedings for these events.

The CUP denounced the lack of permits on Thursday and criticized institutional inaction

Before the start of the festival, the CUP filed a complaint with the Mossos d'Esquadra against the event on Thursday. The party maintains that the event lacks the necessary permits and criticizes the inaction of both the city council and the departments of Territory and Interior.

Dani Cornellà, a deputy from the CUP, expressed his "indignation" at the holding of the gathering and criticized what he defined as "intolerable permissiveness" towards hate speech and fascist exaltation.

The festival takes place between Santa Susanna and the immediate surroundings of Calella, two neighboring municipalities in the Maresme region. In this context, the Mossos maintain a device focused on the street and not inside the property, while the only known assault so far was registered at 00:25 hours on Jovara street in Calella.
