The garbage collection strike in Girona continues after mediation between management and the representatives of the workforce of the service concessionaire, Girona+Neta, ended without an agreement.
The unions maintain the indefinite strike to achieve labor improvements that they consider urgent after months of sterile negotiations.
Total breakdown of social dialogue
The strike committee explains that after last night's meeting they made a proposal that was rejected today by the company, without the latter having presented any counter-offer.

According to the promoters of the mobilization, this physical distancing evidences the absence of real will for dialogue on the part of the company awarded the municipal service.
Health risk in the streets
This morning, the Girona City Council described the minimum services decreed by the Generalitat to guarantee the basic cleaning of the city as insufficient.
The councilor for Climate Action of the Ecological Transition Area, Sergi Cot, expressed concern about the accumulation of the organic fraction in the streets.
Cot has not ruled out requesting a public health emergency, an administrative measure that would allow for the hiring of additional services to remove accumulated garbage.
The pressure on local businesses increases day by day. The Girona Hospitality Association has already criticized the impact that the garbage collection strike is having on bars and restaurants in the Old Town area.
